Accelerate with Intention: What WBENC Reinforced About Leading a Women-Led Business

Four years ago, I walked into my first WBENC conference thinking big. Like, really big. I found myself across the table from Pepsi’s procurement team pitching RedTree—a four-person web agency—to handle their global website. Bold? Definitely. Strategic? Maybe not.

Fast forward to 2025. RedTree is celebrating ten years in business, and I’m returning to WBENC not with wide eyes, but with a sharp focus. Our theme this year is A Decade of Discovery, A Future in Focus, and it’s more than a tagline. It’s our filter. It’s how we decide what to build, who to work with, and where to go next.

So when WBENC rolled out the theme ACCELERATE, I knew I was in the right room.

Showing Up with Strategy, Not Spray-and-Pray Hustle

I didn’t go to WBENC this year to chase logos or hand out 500 business cards. I went to reconnect with the people who actually matter—the ones I’ve built relationships with over the years. The ones who don’t just need a website, but understand what a good one can do.

RedTree isn’t here for everyone. We’re here for the brands that care about intentional design, culture alignment, and websites that actually perform. The meet-and-greets this year weren’t about scoring a big fish. They were about alignment, clarity, and long-term partnerships.

Escaping the Bubble

One of the best parts of WBENC is that it pops whatever echo chamber you’ve been living in. For me, that’s Pittsburgh. And while I love our city, it’s easy to get trapped in a regional mindset.

At WBENC, I met founders from every corner of the country doing wildly creative, high-impact work. Different industries. Different styles. Different perspectives. It reminded me of the power that comes from stepping outside your comfort zone.

What Acceleration Looks Like

RedTree isn’t trying to grow fast for the sake of speed. We’re accelerating with focus. That means offering fewer services and doing them exceptionally well. It means putting our energy into:

  • Strategic website audits that uncover the real blockers to growth
  • Our signature Roots and BLOSSOM programs
  • High-performing WordPress and Shopify redesigns

We’re building not just websites, but momentum, without burning out our team or our clients.

The Legacy of Pamela Prince-Eason

This year’s conference was emotional. The sudden passing of Pamela Prince-Eason, WBENC’s President & CEO, left a void you could feel. But it also amplified her legacy.

Pamela didn’t just lead WBENC. She shaped it. She made space for conversations, connections, and careers that wouldn’t exist without her. As a women-led business owner, I walked away with a renewed sense of responsibility: to lead with intention and to carry that legacy forward.

WBENC doesn’t end when the conference wraps. One of our most rewarding recent projects originated from the Women Impact Business network. Their mission is clear, their voice is powerful, and we helped build a digital presence to match.

That’s the kind of work we want more of. Purpose-led, partnership-driven, and built for impact.

Final Thought: Momentum Doesn’t Have to Be Chaotic

Here’s what I’ve learned in 10 years of building RedTree and four years of attending WBENC:

You don’t have to go faster. You just have to go smarter.

Acceleration is about clarity. It’s about knowing your lane, staying in it, and building something real. So if you’re a woman-led brand ready to focus, refine, and grow with intention, I’m ready to build with you.

Let’s accelerate the right way. Together.
