Year’s End into the Year Ahead

I don’t know about you but these few days between Christmas and New Year’s is my favorite time of year. It’s my favorite because I’m in this special place of reflection and dreaming all at the same time.

Below are some of my biggest lessons from 2018 and my biggest goals for 2019:

Biggest lesson:

  • Core Services: I’m sure everyone has gone through it where you think, “We do this, so doing that wouldn’t be that hard” and in fact, it might not be, but it’s preventing me from being the best at one service because my attention is divided.

  • Vulnerability doesn’t have to be a weakness: I thought that sharing my struggles and issues would make me sound weak, but in fact, it allowed me to have great conversations with other business owners and talk about similar struggles.

  • Consistency is key: I know a lot of marketing people talk about this but it’s true in marketing, sales and the services you offer. If people know who you are and what you sell, it can mean the world to your business.

Exciting plans:

  • Finalizing a process: Ever since I finished the E-Myth Revisited. my team and I have been writing down every little process that we do. This year it is about trying them out on new hires and refining.
  • Women in Tech: The more I get involved in this space, the more I’m learning how much of an imbalance there is. So I’m planning to contribute as much time and energy as I can to help change this imbalance.
  • Growing my network: Pittsburgh is such a great town and I want to meet more people both inside the city and outside. I’m trying to come up with unique ways of doing this but for right now that jury is still out.
