What is Google My Business?
Google My Business (GMB) is a free service from Google that offers businesses a unique opportunity to appear in Google’s search results and on Google Maps simply by providing accurate information about their business.
Why should you care about GMB?
If your business isn’t listed in Google’s search results then customers can’t find your business and will move on to one of your competitors. Also, with a GMB account, you control what information appears online for your business and it also gives your customers the ability to review your business.
Why it’s important to update your GMB hours
Having your correct business hours in GMB is crucial so that current and potential customers can know when you and your business services are available. According to several recent business surveys, incorrect business hours are a main factor in customers losing trust in a business.
How to update your GMB Holiday hours
GMB now allows you to update your holiday hours in advance instead of you having to go in on the same day to change them. GMB will even send you an email to remind you to update your hours. You can set them in the Google My Business app on Android or iPhone as well. Below are the steps you can take to update your business’ holiday hours:
1. Log into your Google My Business account.
2. Click on “Info” on the left-hand side
3. Look for “add special hours” and click on the pen icon on the right side
4. A box will pop up with upcoming holidays. For each day, slide the button to “Closed” or leave it if you are open.
5. If you want to change additional days, scroll to the bottom and click the link that says, “Add new date.”
6. A calendar will pop up and you can change the hours on any date.
7. Remember to click on the blue “Apply” link at the bottom right. Please note the information on the bottom that edits may take up to 3 days before being visible.
Your hours will now be set for all the holidays and you can relax knowing your GMB information is correct and up to date.
