My website is “going live”; Now what?

Many of our customers are filled with excitement, anticipation and, often, nervousness as their new or redesigned website “goes live.”

There are many things that go on in the backend of a website when it is published to the internet. These are completed by RedTree and often include pointing the A records to a new server, updating SSL, applying redirects, checking for broken links, configuring Google Analytics tracking, etc. These are all items that most people do not see or understand, so that’s why they hire RedTree to take care of these back-end items.

What is important is that you now have a beautiful website that promotes your brand and your business and tells the world what your business is about. But here are several common misconceptions we’ve heard from customers about what they think is going to happen once their new website is published:

I’m still seeing my old website when I visit my URL

The launching process can take up to 48 hours. Please be patient. One thing that might help is to clear the cache on your browser.

I’m going to get inundated with customers and orders that I can’t handle

It takes a little time for your information to get out there, so you can relax and prepare with your inventory, etc.

I’m not going to get any new customers or orders on my site

Again, give it some time and take that time to prepare. It’s always good to promote your website once we are live via social media or email blast. No one will know it’s updated unless you tell them.

I can’t find my website on the first few pages of a Google search

There are multiple factors that go into your placement of your website. One of the big considerations is the keywords you are using. Google has an algorithm that decides what businesses are listed and how. RedTree can help with any additional Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

My payment portal isn’t working

Once the website is fully live, RedTree tests and re-tests all payment portals numerous times to ensure that you will get paid from your new customers.

My Contact Form or emails won’t work

Again, once the website is live, we will test all forms and emails numerous times to make sure that your potential customers can get in touch with you.

I won’t know how to maintain my website or make changes to it if I want

Depending on the type of site you have, RedTree has its own support website that addresses the most common questions with “how-tos” to guide you through certain activities you can do yourself

The hard work is over, now take a breath and enjoy the mark your business will make on the internet. And remember, RedTree is always here to help!
