Bally Design

Bally Design was founded by industrial designer, Alex Bally, in 1972.

They provide a wide range of services to their clients with their team of facilitators, market researchers, industrial designers, graphic designers, and engineers. Bally Design stands out as compared to other creative consultancies because they treat each client project as a way to collaborate and create with their clients rather than providing rushed solutions to undefined problems.

GOAL | Operating Offline

In this case, Bally Design needed us to develop an app for an already designed UI. They had some very specific and unique requirements that made this development pretty tricky. Bally Design needed this app in order to display their products at trade shows on a tablet, where wifi is often bad or nonexistent. We tossed around a few ideas before deciding to build a Windows application for a Windows Surface Pro tablet. We used a framework called Electron that makes it possible to develop native applications with web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. With the use of these technologies, we delivered an application that could be installed on their trade show tablets and would run smoothly without any internet connection.

GOAL | Interactive 3D Models

Bally Design also wanted to showcase the interactive 3D models on their site, but the tool they’d previously used to accomplish this wouldn’t work without an internet connection. We used a JavaScript library called three.js that allows you to load and manipulate 3D assets in the browser to deliver on this goal for Bally Design.
